Shringar is a LIVE band and dance troupe based out of the capital city of Karnataka, Bangalore. It is the concept of Iman Das; the band is a classical fusion band mixing ragas with pop, ghazals, modern song, evergreen thumries and kathak dance. A quest for eternal melody, Shringar is one of the nine rasas, usually translated as erotic love, romantic love, or as attraction or beauty. Rasa means ‘flavor’, and the theory of rasa is the primary concept behind classical Indian arts including theatre, music, dance, poetry, and even sculpture. Shringar is out to prove that music has no boundaries and all genres are under only one sky. Iman das is considered to one of the finest exponents of the Patiala Gharana of the present generation. A senior disciple of Pt Ajoy Chakraborty, Pt Shantanu Bhattacharya and Pt Kalyan Basu, he is a rare blend of talent and riyaz. Iman is equally sublime in kheyal and lighter genres such as thumris, bhajans etc. A firm believer in divine and destiny, Iman believes Indian classical music is the highest form of art and is synonymous to meditation.
